Call it a clash of the divas! Following a tumultuous first ‘X Factor‘ season, Nicole Scherzinger is rumored to be leaving … And to have a pretty pricey replacement: None other than the best selling female artist of all time, Mariah Carey, may fill the Over 30s judge’s designer shoes!

Sources have been whispering that because Scherzinger wasn’t comfortable seeing contestants get eliminated, she wanted out. Once Mimi heard the news, she reportedly let Simon Cowell know she’d be willing to take Scherzy’s place.

The move, while dramatic, would hardly be surprising. Scherzinger was rumored to have a potential country switch with U.K. ‘X Factor’ judge Kelly Rowland, but it appears that may have fallen by the wayside as she focuses on other projects. In an interview in December, Scherzinger revealed that she was looking forward to finally finishing and releasing her long-delayed album, ‘Killer Love,’ and that she wanted to focus on a burgeoning acting career as well.

Scherzinger’s rumored emotional motives are also likely to play a role in the decision. The former Pussycat Doll faced massive backlash when her deadlock vote sent fan favorite Rachel Crow home. “I’m used to being on stage and performing and singing for people and people cheering for me,” Scherzinger said. “I am an artist first, not a judge first! The elimination process for me has been very difficult.”

For her part, Carey has always been welcome on ‘X Factor’ — but factors like weather, scheduling and cash kept her at bay. Cowell was determined to find a role for Carey on the series. When it was decided that she would be his guest during the judges’ home auditions, Hurricane Irene nixed her travel plans. In December, Carey’s request for a $300,00 payout to perform ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ with teen phenom Justin Bieber was denied. While we’ll miss Scherzinger — tears and all — we’d love to see what advice and sass Mimi has up her sleeves!

That's the message that jewelry designer Joan Boyce, a longtime friend of the singer, broadcast over Twitter after she was mistakenly identified as Carey's mother... and not for the first time! "M, congrats on BET Honors! Did you see they called me your mom again?" Boyce tweeted at Carey last week. "it's so silly! You only have one mom and that's Pat Carey."

"You'd think after she sang the duet with me last year & performed on my ABC Special in front of millions, people would get it!" Mariah responded, posting the video of the duet below. "I was extremely pregnant but here's a link to our moment together on stage 4 anyone who didn't see it. That's my momma!"

Washington: Mariah Carey has cleared the air over her long time friend Joan Boyce being referred to as her mother. On January 12, Carey, hit up the store of famed jeweller Joan Boyce. Soon after, some outlets began referring to Boyce’s boutique as “Mariah’s parents’ jewellery store”. Shutting down those false speculations, both Boyce and Carey took to their twitter accounts to sound off.

“@MariahCarey M, congrats on BET Honors! Did you see they called me your mom again? It’s so silly! You only have one mom and that’s Pat Carey,” a magazine has quoted Boyce as tweeting at Carey. “@joanboycehsn You’d think after she sang the duet with me last year and performed on my ABC Special in front of millions, people would get it!” the singer responded.

“I was extremely pregnant but here’s a link to our moment together on stage 4 anyone who didn’t see it. That’s my momma!” Carey added, along with the video of her and her mom singing. As part of their annual year-end music industry report, Billboard and the Nielsen Company recently tallied up the all-time sales totals for the Soundscan era, and their updated Top 10 list includes some of the heaviest hitters in the history of rock, pop, and country — including PopCrush favorites Mariah Carey and Eminem, who placed third and seventh, respectively.

Coming in at No. 1 on the list is Garth Brooks, with a whopping 68.5 million units sold, while Carey is the top-selling female artist, with 53.6 million in sales. (Second? The Beatles, at 63.3 million.) Meanwhile, Eminem — who, unlike many of the artists on the list, didn’t start releasing albums until after Soundscan was implemented — has moved a healthy 41.1 million units.

Billboard started using Soundscan in 1991, in an effort to take a more precise measure of sales by tallying point-of-sale scans instead of relying on more informal record store numbers. As a result, the totals on this most recent list only take sales from the last 20 years into account, but they’re still a pretty good measure of success for contemporary artists (and even a few who aren’t so contemporary). Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon has been forced to ditch his favourite sugary cereals and adopt a healthy diet after his recent hospitalisation for kidney failure. The America's Got Talent host fell ill during a family vacation in Aspen, Colorado in December (11) and he subsequently underwent surgery after being transferred to a hospital in Los Angeles.

He was discharged earlier this month (Jan12) and instructed by doctors to cut out all unhealthy foods from his diet in order to aid his recovery, but Cannon admits adjusting to his new eating regime has been tough.

He tells Mtv.com, "I'm feeling good, I'm in the office, I'm grinding, the only thing that sucks is that I'm on the renal diet. It's all about healthy living and fueling your system, but I don't get to eat the things that I like to eat. You've got to stay hydrated and (eat) fruits and vegetables for breakfast."

Cannon's since had to replace his beloved sugar-filled Lucky Charms cereal with oats as he "can't have none of that stuff anymore", but he moans, "(It's) not even the good oatmeal. (It's) real oats, like horse-feed stuff - but it's cool. I've got to start to love it."

However, Cannon has found one taste solution to give his meals a kick: "I can still have Tabasco sauce, so I'm excited about that because I love hot sauce. I'll be putting Tabasco sauce on carrots, like, 'This tastes delicious!'"

The star insists he's now back to good health, but his hospital experience has prompted him to take better care of himself - and he's encouraging fans to do the same. He adds, "I feel 100 per cent right now, but obviously the doctors tell you to take it slow. This is definitely the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. I've always thought that I was doing the right things, but that's why I now encourage everybody to get check-ups, get physicals, know what's going on in your system and don't play around with your body.

"I always considered myself as someone who was in great shape, but I was doing too much (to my body) so my immune system got confused and just started attacking my kidneys... I look like I'm in shape, but I was putting the wrong stuff into my body, speeding all the time, not sleeping and eating properly - it's all about taking time and really caring about yourself and how you fuel yourself."

The taping of the 5th Annual BET Honors took place last night at Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. and after much commotion over the Kelly Rowland, Mariah Carey tribute, it’s been confirm that Kelly covered “Fantasy” with the help of rapper Raekwon. Kelly expressed, “I love and respect her so much. I have to look at her forehead when I’m singing and not her eyes ’cause I know I’m gonna break out in tears.” While Kelly provided the fun for the tribute, it was heavy weight vocalist Patti Labelle that provided the ‘testimony’ belting out Carey’s classic hit “Hero.

” Speeches about the multi-platinum singer included her husband Nick Canon with son Moroccan (his sister Monroe was backstage), L.A. Reid, First Lady Michelle Obama, Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah and Willow Smith. Jill Scott and Common were also on hand to salute some of the additional honorees which included Stevie Wonder, Maya Angelou and Spike Lee  for the special which on February 13th during Black History Month.

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey have made their first appearance since Nick's recent health scare. The celebrity couple stepped out together at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC on Saturday night, January 14 to attend the taping of 2012 BET Honors, where the radio personality presented his singer wife with Entertainer Award.

Holding his 8-month-old son, Moroccan, Nick got emotional in his speech before handing the prize to the R&B diva. "When times are hard, you guys don't see her at 3 o'clock in the morning, getting up in the middle of the night, fixing me soup when my kidneys ain't acting right. Mariah Carey does that," he gushed before calling her his "angel."

"It is truly, truly a blessing to be here tonight, and I am humbled and in awe of everyone's presence, but mostly my hero right there," the radio personality continued singing his praise to the singer. "What most people don't get the opportunity to experience is the true woman; the virtuous person who is my angel."

In response to her husband's speech, Mariah stated, "To my incredible husband who [has been] out of the hospital two days - look at him all strong and healthy and big and too buff for the tux - it's incredible." She also sent love to her daughter, "And Miss Monroe Cannon's backstage, darling. We were both sewn into our dresses, so she couldn't make it out."

Celebrating its fifth anniversary, BET Honors continued its tradition to celebrate the outstanding achievements of extraordinary legends in music, literature, entertainment, media, service and education. Featuring a live performance by Kelly Rowland, the show will premiere during Black History Month, on Monday, February 13 at 9 P.M.

Mariah attended the event wearing a form-fitting black and nude-colored gown, while Nick and baby Moroccan donned a matching suit. As for Kelly, she looked stunning in a one-sleeved purple wrap dress. The other stars coming to the event include Gabrielle Union who rocked a white Emilio Pucci dress, Michelle Williams (II) who opted for a sequined gown, and Willow Smith who chose a cute yellow ensemble.

In addition to honoring Mariah, BET Honors also saluted African Americans of excellence in the categories of musical arts (singer Stevie Wonder), media (director Spike Lee), literary arts (poet Maya Angelou), education (track and field coach Beverly Kearney), and service (The Tuskegee Airmen).

Mariah Carey is “closer than ever” to husband Nick Cannon following his hospitalization and surgery last week, according to the TV personality’s father. Cannon suffered acute kidney failure during a winter break in Aspen, Colo., earlier this month and was subsequently transferred to a Los Angeles medical facility near the couple’s home.

Carey shared photos of herself tending to her partner in his hospital bed prior to his surgery on Friday, and now Cannon has been released from doctors’ care, his dad Jason has opened up about the health scare.

He tells Us Weekly, “Nick and Mariah have a very strong bond. If anything, this unexpected illness has made them closer than ever and appreciate one another even more. She would stay in the hospital overnight to support him. So they managed to cope even though Nick was pretty sick. But he is glad to be home now and his whole family is pleased about that also. “The great thing about my son is that he always tries to stay upbeat. He took his mind off things by joking with the nurses and doctors and things like that.

“The doctors have ordered him to rest and make some adjustments to his diet too. It has been an educational process for him, and he is determined to make those changes and stay away from soft drinks and too many sugar-based foods now.”Carey took to her Twitter.com page once again on Tuesday to update her fans on Cannon’s recovery. She declared, “Daddy Nick is getting better, we’re all home together taking care of each other, excited about the new year!!”
